The Homestead
The owners of this historic, Greater Milwaukee area home wanted to re-imagine it with a new kitchen/dining room, three bathrooms, and office, while also updating their master bedroom, living room, and exterior living space. Adding a concealed steel beam created space for an awesome, open-concept kitchen with a dining room. Moving the powder room to a location more accessible from the yard allowed for an office complete with a highly-coveted day bed.
Upstairs, a new guest bath and master bath with claw foot tub captures the modern farmhouse vibe. In a nod to its roots, a stained-glass panel from the original house was reimagined as a privacy screen over the window in front of the master bathtub. Reclaimed barn boards in the master bedroom and in the kitchen complete the look. The focal point of the living room is the re-worked fireplace with newly added window seats on either side.
Outside, a deck was added with an outdoor shower, perfect for de-mudding after gardening before heading into the house or, better yet, into the hot tub.
